"I am looking for a used EVI (or EWI), where's the best place to find one and how much should I pay?"
Answer: There are several places to hunt for used EVI's and EWI's.

Akai EVI's went out of production in 1989 and have become scarce and coveted in the used marketplace. For that reason, they are difficult to find and usually come at a premium. They currently sell on the used market for between $500 to as much as $1500. EWI 1000's appear with some regularity in the used market and sell for about $300 to $750. Akai EWI 3020's with the 3020m or 3030m go for about $800 in the used marketplace but are relatively scarce given that these models are still relatively new.

1). Check the classifieds section of this site for "For Sale" notices.

2). Check the Wind mailing list homepage. This will give you instructions on how to post a message to or subscribe to the Wind E-mailing list where "For Sale" notices are posted.

3). Do a search on the newsgroup alt.rec.musicmakers.marketplace

4). Check the websites for larger music stores such as Rogue Music or Sam Ash in New York.

5).  Run a search on ebay. If your search doesn't turn up any results you can save the search and ebay will notify you when new auctions with your search criteria appear.  Unfortunately ebay has actually served to increase the market price for used EWI's.  Used EWI1000/EWV2000 packages have recently sold on ebay for as much as $750.
